Fee information and estimates for family law matters. Where costs depend on the time involved, we provide a tailored estimate at your free initial consultation.

A 💍 Divorce (Uncontested) — Fixed Fee
Uncontested divorce — a fixed fee covering the divorce proceedings only. Financial matters and child arrangements are dealt with separately.
  • Our fixed legal fee: £575 + VAT
  • Admin / ID setup fee: £50 + VAT
  • Court fee (currently): £628 — payable to HMCTS
  • Total estimated cost: £1,378.00 (inc. VAT & court fee)
The court fee of £628 is based on the Respondent replying to the divorce application. Court fees are set by HMCTS and are subject to change.

B ⚖️ Financial Matters — Hourly Rate
£200–£280 + VAT per hour
Depending on the experience and seniority of the solicitor involved
Our costs are often in the region of £1,000 – £10,000+ + VAT, plus other disbursement costs such as barrister's fees and pension or other expert reports — and it is not unusual to exceed that figure in complex cases.
Factors that affect cost include:
whether the matter is agreed or contested • complexity and value of assets involved • number of court hearings required • whether pension sharing or valuation is needed • whether a barrister or expert report is required • conduct of the other party
What this covers: Financial remedy proceedings including negotiation, Form E financial disclosure, court hearings, and (where agreement is reached) the drafting and filing of a Consent Order.
  • Consent Order court fee: £62 (usually shared equally between spouses)
  • Barrister fees may be required for contested hearings — these are additional disbursements discussed with you in advance
Typical timescale: Financial matters typically take between 6–12 months to resolve, though this varies considerably depending on whether agreement can be reached without court proceedings and the complexity of the assets involved.

C 👶 Child Matters — Hourly Rate
£200–£280 + VAT per hour
Depending on the experience and seniority of the solicitor involved
Our costs are often in the region of £500 – £10,000+ + VAT, plus other disbursement costs such as barrister's fees and expert reports — every case turns on its own facts.
Factors that affect cost include:
whether arrangements can be agreed without court intervention • number of hearings required • whether CAFCASS involvement is needed • safeguarding concerns or complexity of the family situation • whether expert reports are required • conduct of the other party
What this covers: Child arrangements, residence and contact orders, and applications to the court where agreement cannot be reached. Our philosophy is always to resolve matters by agreement wherever possible, to minimise stress and cost.

  • CAFCASS involvement or expert reports may be required in complex cases — always discussed and agreed with you in advance
Typical timescale: Child matters typically take between 6–12 months to resolve, though matters that can be agreed without court proceedings may conclude sooner. Contested cases involving multiple hearings can take longer.

D 🤝 Cohabitation & Nuptial Agreements — From £1,000 + VAT
Cohabitation Agreements and Pre & Post Nuptial Agreements start from £1,000 + VAT for a standard agreement. These can be very complex depending on the assets involved — business interests, significant property, overseas assets, or trusts — and the fee will reflect that complexity.

Court fees are payable to HMCTS in addition to our fees and subject to change.

Consent Order court fee of £62 is usually shared equally between spouses.
