Three months ago the Supreme Court declared that Employment Tribunal Fees were unlawful. Now those who have paid fees can claim them back.
The Tribunal Fees – costing between £160 - £950 - were payable for about four years before being rejected by the court. However, the process of repaying them may take some time. It is estimated that the government will have to repay £32 million to claimants in total.
Our Claire Myatt says, “When the fees were introduced the amount of claims bought to tribunal dropped significantly. It is good to see that there is now one less barrier to people bringing a claim against a law-breaking employer”.
