Have you made a Lasting Power of Attorney in the last 5 years?

February 1, 2018

If you paid fees to register a Lasting Power of Attorney between 1 April 2013 and 31 March 2017 you can claim part of your application fee back from the Office of the Public Guardian.

Either the donor or the attorney can make the claim but the refund will be paid to the donor.  For more details on how to make your claim go to www.gov.uk/power-of-attorney-refund.  If you are unable to access the online application process then call on 0300 456 0300.

This applies to everyone who has paid fees for their application during the time period stated.  Interest of 0.5% will be paid on top of the refund amount although you should be aware that the refund may take up to 12 weeks to process.
