Nelson Myatt Solicitors are based in the Conwy Business Centre in Llandudno Junction. We have a modern approach and are always looking at new ways to utilise modern infrastructure so that we can work with maximum efficiency be agile and have the ability to grow and adapt to fast changing situations. We deal with all types of civil matters throughout Wales and England.

We take security very seriously; we have introduced Law Connect which allows us to securely share documents with you and allows you to upload documents back to us. Where the firm began

The firm was started by Claire Myatt and Andrew Nelson in April 2014. Both of them entered the legal profession after having other careers, which gives them a wealth of experience enabling them to take a pragmatic approach to any scenario and ensuring the best possible outcome for all clients.

We transistioned from an LLP to a Limited company on 1st September 2023

Our approach to the law

We fully appreciate that clients very often come to a solicitor at a time when they feel under pressure, whether it be a divorce, separation or house move. We aim to ensure that each client feels fully supported and advised through whatever process they require. We provide a personal service to each and every client.

Accreditations

We have gained official recognition of the quality of our service with various accreditations.

Andrew Nelson is a registered member of Resolution.

Resolution is an organisation of 6,500 family lawyers and other professionals in England and Wales, who believe in a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters. Resolution also campaigns for improvements to the family justice system and supports the development of family lawyers through its national and regional training programmes.

We have now further enhanced our family law credentials by gaining the Law Society accreditation for family law.

Nelson Myatt Solicitors is an accredited CQS solicitors.

The Quality Conveyancing Scheme is administered by the Law Society which provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing practices. Membership establishes a level of credibility for firms with stakeholders such as regulators, lenders and insurers as well as residential homebuyers and sellers.

Offices

Nelson Myatt expanded in May 2019 opening a new branch office in Penrhyn Avenue Rhos on Sea. Unfortunately due to Coronavirus and the need for social distancing the office space was just not suitable to meet the new regulations and we took the sad decision to close this branch at the end of July 2020. We have introduced more online access for clients and some of our staff now work from home on a rota basis.

Nelson Myatt has gone from strength to strength since starting and in 2018 we were nominated for two awards, winning the Conwy Small Business of the year in May and finalists in the Daily Post Business Awards in the same category.

Claire is the head of conveyancing and other property/land departments within the firm dealing day to day with both private and commercial sales, purchases and leases. Claire also deals with Wills & Probate for the firm. Claire excels at creating an excellent working relationship with her clients and strives for the best possible outcome for them from day one, through to completion. Claire’s glowing testimonials from previous clients speak for themselves and a selection are available on our website. Claire has experience of working as a solicitor in local authorities and has previously worked for the Civil Service, Solicitors Regulation Authority and the Independent Police Complaints Commission. Claire is currently looking forward to welcoming a new puppy into her life and so will be taking up walking and sleepless nights.

Andrew specialises in Personal Injury, Litigation and Family law, including divorce/separation/finances and children matters. He is an excellent, no-nonsense, solicitor and his track record demonstrates this. Andrew’s advocacy skills are persuasive, both in court and when negotiating with the 'other side'. He is always willing to go the extra mile to ensure his clients obtain the best possible outcome in their case. Andrew has extensive experience of divorce/separation matters and personal injury claims, along with litigation matters including injunctions and other remedies required in civil law claims. No matter is too big or too small to discuss with Andrew at a free first meeting and his track record for the clients he represents is excellent. Andrew is a member of Resolution, and an accredited Law Society Family Law practitioner, as such he believes in and practices a constructive, non-confrontational approach to family law matters. That said, he will always strive to ensure that his clients achieve a fair and reasonable settlement whether it is financial when separating following divorce or cohabitation, or when facilitating contact between children and their parents. Outside of work, Andrew is a keen outdoorsman (being a soldier and then Mountain Instructor in previous professional life), enjoying mountaineering, mountain biking and scuba diving amongst other sports – or just walking the dog!

Stephen Myatt

Management

Stephen manages the practice as a whole, looks after the IT, keeps the website and social media up to date, runs the payroll, offers first line support to our staff, manages the accounts, pays the bills and produces reports. He loves an Excel spreadsheet! Stephen was involved in the business from the start on a part time basis and has expanded his role as the business has grown. He brings with him 17 years in the IT industry with Fujitsu and prior to that 14 years as a Civil Servant. If there is any spare time, it is spent with the grandkids, DIY, walking the dog or maybe a game of table tennis. He is also well travelled having taken 3 months out back in 2011/12 to complete a round the world trip travelling East starting with Hong Kong then through Bali, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Barbados and a few stops in the USA.

Sam joined our team in February 2021 having worked at other local solicitors since 2015. He brings with him a wealth of experience in Conveyancing, both residential and commercial property along with Wills, Probate, estate administration and Powers of Attorney. Sam joined during the difficult time of Covid restrictions but is eager to get out into the community to deliver talks and presentations about Wills, Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection issues. Sam fully embraces our ambition to reduce the amount of paper we use, being an IT expert means he will communicate primarily using email and makes good use of Law Connect to share documents with our clients. Outside of the office Sam enjoys spending time with his young family whilst also running a local theatre group. He also has a keen interest in following the rollercoaster fortunes of Liverpool football club.

Emma joined our team in November 2021 having relocated to the area. Emma completed her Law Degree at Aberystwyth University and completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law, Chester. Emma specialises in Residential Conveyancing and qualified as a Solicitor in September 2020. Emma assists clients with all types of residential conveyancing transactions including freehold and leasehold sales and purchases, transfers of equity and re-mortgages. Emma loves to make a difference to people’s lives and fully believes in a client focused service which she is always conscious of when dealing with our clients on a day-to-day basis. In her spare time, Emma loves to bake, travel, and spend time with her family.

Caitlin brings with her a depth of experience in litigation having attended over 1000 hearings in her previous role as a County Court Advocate. She has represented clients in road traffic accident claims, commercial contractual disputes, mortgage possession litigation and consumer credit disputes amongst others. She also has an abundance of experience in advising clients of their rights and enforcing them from her role as advice co-ordinator for Refugee Action. Caitlin started with us as a trainee solicitor, and won her first case under the Nelson Myatt banner defending a litigation case and takes no prisoners when it comes to fighting for your rights. Caitlin qualified as a Solicitor in October 2022 and had a double celebration being admitted on her birthday. She has taken no time at all in getting used to our systems and fits in well with our small busy team. She prepares thoroughly for hearings and is proving to be a real asset for the Nelson Myatt team. In her spare time Caitlin enjoys focusing on her fitness, she is a keen thai-boxer and enjoys yoga in her downtime. She is also a keen traveller and has recently explored Bali and has undertaken a Safari in South Africa.

Esther Alawode

Esther joined us in May 2022 after relocating to the area. She completed her Law degree at the University of Leicester, including a year of study in Singapore at Singapore Management University. She later completed the Legal Practice Course at the University of Law. Alongside her studies, she volunteered at Liverpool Civil and Family Court, assisting clients with court applications and support whilst in court. Prior to joining us, she also gained experience working as a Legal Advisor, and Paralegal. Qualifying in November 2023, Esther now has her own caseload of residential conveyancing transactions, she also made a fantastic contribution to our annual Will Aid charity campaign ensuring Nelson Myatt were one of the top fund raising firms in Wales in 2022. In her spare time, she runs a landscape photography website, and enjoys reading, and cooking.

Karen specialises in family law, with 25 years’ experience of dealing with all aspects of relationship breakdown, giving practical and straightforward advice. Karen deals with financial settlements of any value, with a particular emphasis on complex financial cases involving extensive assets, business arrangements and pension sharing. Karen also has a wealth of experience of disputes concerning the arrangements for children, domestic violence injunctions and advises upon cohabitation disputes and agreements. Karen was noted in the Legal 500, as someone who ‘fights hard for her clients’ and described as having “exceptionally strong negotiation skills backed up with years of experience in handling difficult proceedings”. In her spare time, Karen enjoys keeping fit, cycling, walking and has just taken up yoga.

Ffion joined us in November 2016 as our main administration assistant, since then she has become a valued member of our team and has now been promoted to Office Manager. Looking after the day to day running of the admin team, ensuring all our clients are looked after and their matters dealt with promptly and pressionally keeps Ffion busy. Ffion has recently started studying a level 4-6 dipolma in conveyancing law and practice with the aim of becoming a conveyancer. She is ambitious and wants to see her certificate on the office wall of fame. Ffion works part time hours fitting her working life around her childcare commitments

Ann-Marie is new to the role of Office Administator at Nelson Myatt after taking the step to change career. Working full time, Ann-Marie will be answering your calls, setting up new matters, sending out initial documentation. She has setled in very quickly becoming part of our growing team. With a passion for walking in the mountains, Ann-Marie makes the most of her spare time and loves getting out into the fresh air with her family,

Steph joined the team towards the end of 2023 into the role of Administration Officer assisting the conveyancing team. Steph has a Law & Psychology degree and has previously worked within Legal and Public Sector Services, teamed with her previous role as an Estate Agent – she is able to bring a wide range of experience to the role. Steph is ambitious and is working on progressing her career with the support of Nelson Myatt. Steph spends her weekends with her children and family and any spare time is spent renovating her home.
